One of the most immediate, powerful ways to engage with moviemaking as a first-time filmmaker is through music. This Fall, Music in Motion at Da Vinci Middle School will examine how film’s silent roots influence the modern music video. Over six, two‐hour sessions, students will write/film/edit their own 3 minute music movie, employing their favorite song and a pre‐selected genre (for example, comedy, action, suspense, etc). Students will learn to use a camera, setup a tripod, work with light and focus, frame compositions and gain computer skills through Final Cut editing software.
