For the 3rd year in a row, the Hollywood Theatre will present #catvidfest, the Walker Art Center’s highly celebrated screening of the best cat videos the internet has to offer. The first Internet Cat Video Festival (#catvidfest) gathered over 10,000 people to the Walker Art Center to participate in a social experiment, testing the boundaries of online communities and crowd-sourced content. Emerging from the Walker’s Open Field initiative the festival attracted attention from local, national, and international audiences and press and raised public debate around the role of museums in an internet culture. #catvidfest is presented in partnership with the Hollywood Theatre’s “Future So Bright” initiative.

FUTURE SO BRIGHT serves to explore how internet culture is helping to inform new models for the presentation of cinema, encouraging participatory experiences with the ultimate goal of expanding the traditional film-going ritual, and facilitating the emergence of a modern movie theater and cultural hub
