ReRun Theater

Re-Run Theater:  A New Take on an American Tradition.  The T.V. Party.  Witness evolution in reverse.  Whereas movies first play in theaters and later are seen on small screens, this is programming meant for a living room T.V. projected on one of the largest screens in town.  Our primary goal is to exhibit old, rare, oddball television with an emphasis on children’s programming from the 1970′s and 80′s, complete with vintage commercial interruptions.  This will  include Saturday Morning Cartoons, Live Action, Holiday Specials, After School Specials and Series, Educational Shows and all the hilarious advertisements that came along with them.  Prepare to be transported back in time to an era and a mindset.

Saturday Mornings at Night makes its triumphant return on May 30 with “Girl Power!”  Back in the day, it wasn’t just a boy’s club on Saturday morning.  The young women of America had their programming needs catered to as well.  With shows starring sexy, powerful female heroes peppered with toy commercials pushing physically correct baby dolls (!), fashion accessories and colorful, girlie cereal – there was plenty for the younger, fairer gender to latch onto.  “Girl Power” is a celebration of this odd chapter in Womyn’s herstory showcasing a menagerie of the flashiest, coolest and most bizarre moments in female children’s-centric entertainment.  We will feature one episode each from three decades:  “Josie and the Pussycats” from the 60′s, the OTHER awesome girl rock band “Jem and the Holograms” from the 80′s (yes we know that this was an after school series not a Saturday Morning show but it counts for our purposes!) and a VERY RARE episode of the live action Sid & Marty Krofft produced, psychedelic super duo “Electra Woman and Dyna Girl”.  So come on down!  You know the drill:  Jump into your Wonder Woman Underoos, pour a bowl of Rainbow Brite cereal and a glass of wine and relive your childhood in the comfort of your favorite theater on a 50 foot screen!  Oh yeah, and I guess the boys are invited too.
