The Phantom of the Opera - with live organ!

Saturday, October 29 at 2:00pm  |  $12  |

Continuing our annual Halloween tradition, the Columbia Theatre Organ Society and the Hollywood Theatre present the 1925 classic silent picture THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with live musical accompaniment. Featuring special score by Martin Ellis, playing the Beverly Ruth Nelson Memorial Organ .

Lon Chaney's appearance as the Phantom is the scariest depiction of the title character, where Erik is described as having a skull-like face with a few wisps of black hair on top of his head. As in the novel, the Phantom has been deformed since birth and terrified audiences from the start.  Causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star, a deformed man becomes the Phantom of the Opera. This is THE original motion picture, based on the 1910 novel, and stars Lon Chaney, Mary Philbin and Norman Kerry.  The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

Theatre patrons are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costume!

Columbia River Theatre Organ Society and the Hollywood Theatre continues the silent film series with TWENTY-THOUSAND LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA (1916) on Saturday, November 26.
