Released in 1966, BORN FREE quickly became a wildly-popular film that forever altered the way humans look at their relationship to lions and wildlife's right to live free of captivity. Based on real life events, the film tells the story of the emotional bond between Joy and George Adamson and Elsa, the orphaned lion cub they raise to adulthood before successfully releasing back into the Kenyan wilderness. Winner of Academy Awards for Best Original Music Score and Best Song , and the Directors Guild of America's Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, the film remains a beloved cinematic classic.
