Deadly Prey!

In the successful wake of clever genre surprises such as MANDY and REVENGE, Wyrd War returns to remind us how utterly batshit crazy straight-to-video action films were back in the '80s! DEADLY PREY (1987) is an ultraviolent zero-budget lightning bolt of testosterone that must be experienced to be believed. Director David Prior’s maniacal script, vaguely inspired by the 1924 short story The Most Dangerous Game, casts a discount Rambo-styled antihero (Tom Prior as the rugged baby-lotioned ex-Marine “Mike Danton”) in a gory tale of man hunting man... hunting man’s wife… hunting man… in contemporary Los Angeles. Survival proceeds awkwardly. DEADLY PREY is the most fun you will ever have watching a nearly nude soldier in cut-off shorts rip a man’s arm off and beat him to death with the dismembered limb.

This screening is a tie-in to Wyrd War’s art exhibit SHADOW OF DEMONS: HAND-PAINTED MOVIE POSTERS FROM GHANA on display all November at Afru Gallery and will include several very rare and very massive original hand-painted Deadly Prey marquee posters from Ghana in the lobby!
