The Grindhouse Film Festival presents an extremely rare 35mm print of the '70s existential character study PAYDAY. A tribute to the great Rip Torn (1931-2019).

(1973) Rip Torn stars as Maury Dann, a charismatic and narcissistic country singer on the cusp of fame, who spends most of his life in the back of a Cadillac traveling between gigs. He incessantly downs whiskey, pops pills and picks up groupies, and as he recklessly chases his big break, his life completely spirals out of control. This unflinching and unvarnished look at the downside of the music business is one of the great cinematic character studies of all time. Directed by Daryl Duke (THE SILENT PARTNER).
