27 years ago, writer Joss Whedon birthed a phenomenon with BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. Before his seminal television series of the same name, Whedon's first incarnation of Buffy was a flighty high school cheerleader (played by Kristy Swanson) who spends most of her time shopping dope 1992 fashions, until the day Merrick (Donald Sutherland) appears to convince her that she is "the chosen one," a vampire slayer. Buffy must train to fight the evil vampire king Lothos (Rutger Hauer) and his henchman (Paul Ruebens, in a delightfully different role).
How can she do all that and get passing grades AND still cheer at the big game? It’s going to be a tough one and she’ll need the help of her friend and cool dude Pike (Luke Perry, at the height of Beverly Hills 90210 fame). See the bodysuits, 90s prom dresses, and how to use Aquanet hairspray to stave off a vampire in a pinch in this totally tubular valley-girl-turns-heroine film.
