The Portland EcoFilm Festival presents the US theatrical premiere of the stirring feature-length documentary, BARRICADE, from acclaimed photographer David Klammer. The year is 2020, and the Covid-19 pandemic can't stop a dedicated community of tree sitters protecting Germany's old growth Dannenröder Forest from a highway expansion. When police show up to squash the resistance, an intergenerational alliance of everyday people comes from nearby cities and towns to stand with the forest and her guardians. BARRICADE is a surprisingly intimate and visually stunning meditation on the creativity, courage, and determination that some people summon to defend the irreplaceable places they love.

After the film, join us in a community conversation about protecting the places we love--with special guests Courtney Johnson (Executive Director, Crag Law Center), Sean Stevens, (Executive Director, Oregon Wild), and Courtney Rae, (Associate Director, Bark), facilitated by Rozzell Medina (Director, Portland EcoFilm Festival).
