Byzantium

Grant Movie Club presents Neil Jordan's BYZANTIUM (2012)! Written by Moira Buffini and based on her play A Vampire Story, BYZANTIUM follows Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as Clara and Eleanor, two sisters who move from town to town while masquerading as mother and daughter. But these sisters are much older than they look, and when Eleanor writes about her life for a school assignment, everything they've been running from closes in on them with bloody results. Co-starring Caleb Landry Jones and Jonny Lee Miller, BYZANTIUM is criminally underappreciated, as beautiful and baroque as its eponym, and marks Jordan's lush return to vampire stories after 1994's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE.
