CLIMATE STORYTELLING FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES: A film Screening and Workshop with Suzie Hicks

Series: The Portland EcoFilm Festival

Join visionary film award winner Suzie Hicks for an encore screening of SUZIE HICKS THE CLIMATE CHICK, followed by an interactive workshop and Q&A for kids of all ages (and we mean all ages!). Participants will unpack big feelings around climate change, engage with community solutions, and gain the tools to tell more climate stories.

SUZIE HICKS THE CLIMATE CHICK is a fast-paced, nonfiction, educational program aimed at inspiring youth to lean into learning about climate change. Using comedy sketches, music, and puppets, the show integrates social emotional learning, climate science, and localized community solutions to inform and empower learners to fight for change.

Suzie Hicks is a media maker and environmental educator based in NYC. In her work, she navigates the intersections between entertainment, education, environmental justice, and community activism. She has investigated climate communication for children's media through academic theses, children’s books, and television series. Suzie received her master's in Climate and Society as a member of the inaugural class of the Climate School at Columbia University. She is the recipient of the 2023 Portland EcoFilm Festival Visionary Film Award.
