When the tiny nation of Freedonia goes bankrupt, a wealthy widow (Margaret Dumont) insists that she will only help save the country from complete financial ruin if Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) becomes the new president. But the president of a neighboring country wants to take over Freedonia, and sends in his spies Pinky (Harpo Marx) and Chicolini (Chico Marx) to help overthrow Freedonia's government.
