FEMINIST MARCH 2023

After a pandemic-related hiatus, the Hollywood Theatre is proud to announce the return of Feminist March: a full month of programming dedicated to women in film. In celebration of Women’s History Month, Feminist March shines a light on the contributions that women have made, and continue to make, to the film industry.

This year, 12 of the 14 films are directed by women, including multiple films by Black, Indigenous, and queer directors. The festival features a wide survey of genres including action, drama, romantic comedy, documentary, Indigenous horror, and even a musical slasher film.

Additionally, we’re thrilled to welcome community partners for this series including PSU's Center for Women's Leadership, Synth Library Portland, and Quest Center.

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Hollywood Theatre spends this March celebrating the women who have shaped the film industry, both in front of and behind the camera. The goal of Feminist March is to celebrate the contributions that women have made, and continue to make, to the film industry, while acknowledging the ongoing need for intersectional advocacy on behalf of marginalized voices, specifically trans and nonbinary filmmakers and filmmakers of color. The resulting lineup spans genres, eras, and sensibilities.
