This month, Hecklevision is bringing you something very special for the holidays. While there are plenty of terrible Christmas movies out there, we’re focusing on a trope that network television sitcoms will never miss: The mandatory Christmas episode. And not just any sitcom, but quite possibly the most frustratingly enduring show ever, Full House!
If you were anywhere near a television in America during the first half of the 90s, you likely saw Full House. The show chronicled a unique family situation - widowed dad gets help raising his three daughters thanks to his brother-in-law and wacky best friend - and introduced the world to Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, and of course, The Olsen Twins. Millions of people tuned in weekly during ABC’s “TGIF” block of programming to have their hearts warmed by the saccharine-sweet adventures of the Tanner Family, complete with catch phrases and life lessons. It was one of those shows you just… watched.
Guest comedian Ryan Alexander-Tanner spent way, way too much time reviewing
every single episode
of Full House for his blog,
“Full House Reviewed”
. His insights, commentary and struggles span 5 years of Wordpress posts, and are absolutely hilarious to read. While he completed his project (and even put in the extra-painful work of reviewing the made-for-TV movie “The Unauthorized Full House Story”), he’s giving us all the the gift of enduring a few select holiday-themed episodes with us in glorious Hecklevision!
This special screening is presented in HECKLEVISION: Through the magic of MuVChat technology, your jokes, heckles and commentary are encouraged - in TEXT form! Tap out your wittiest wisecracks with your phone and they'll appear instantly on screen! Each month, special guests will hang out to crack jokes via text with you and a few hundred of your best friends!
