HOUR OF THE STAR/A HORA DA ESTRELA:

"What's the novel about, Clarice?"
"The story of a girl... who's so poor that all she eats is hotdogs. But that's not what it's about. It's about an innocence that's been trampled upon. An anonymous misery."

Adapted from Clarice Lispector's 1977 novel, which has been recently retranslated into English spurring a resurgence of interest, Suzana Amaral's debut feature follows Macabea (Marcélia Cartaxo, winner of the Silver Bear for her performance), an impoverished typist, as she tries to make her way in São Paulo.
