Josie and the Pussycats

This is part of Feminist March 2020

In partnership with the Hollywood Theatre’s Feminist March programming, Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls is proud to co-present millennial cult comedy JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS! This Feminist March screening opens with an extra-special teaser performance by Mel Ortiz to get everyone ready for Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls’ 4th Annual Karaoke Contest on March 20th at Widmer Pub!

Directed by Deborah Kaplan & Harry Elfont, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS follows the ascent of the small-town pop-punk band (Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, and Tara Reid) as they make it to the top of the charts and a record label run by casual supervillain Fiona (Parker Posey). But when Josie discovers subliminal messages hidden in their music as part of Fiona’s evil plan to become the most adored celebrity in the world, the band’s got to choose between their artistic integrity or capitalist fame. Co-starring comedy legends Alan Cumming and Missi Pyle and with a soundtrack featuring Letters to Cleo’s Kay Hanley, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS is an unsung gem of anti-capitalist hilarity and empowerment through rock and roll.
