Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains

Series: Mississippi Records Music & Film

Mississippi Records Music & Film Series presents LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS - a movie that captures the punk moment of 1982 in all its fallow glory.

Three teenagers rant on a news broadcast on the topic of disaffected youth. During their interview, they mention their feminist/nihilist punk band called The Stains. The idea of this unheard punk band captures the imagination of youth around the country and starts attracting agents and record companies before they even play their first show. The band's fanatical teenage following grows, their hype blows up and expectations run high, only to combust in an explosion of betrayal, egomania, drugs and capitalist exploitation.

A great time and place movie featuring early performances by Laura Dern and Diane Lane, weird acting by Steve Jones and Paul Cook from The Sex Pistols as well as Paul Simonon from The Clash, and a bonkers live performance by Black Randy And The Metro Squad. It's punk punk punk all the way.
