Series: Fashion in Film

Fashion in Film, curated by Portland Monthly style editor Eden Dawn and Portland Mercury's Sold Out column founder Marjorie Skinner, celebrates its third anniversary with a special showing of Sofia Coppola’s fluffy visual cake MARIE ANTOINETTE. The 2006 film alternately enraged and delighted audiences with its candy colors, modern score, and awkward as hell relationship between Marie (Kirsten Dunst) and the soon-to-be King of France (Jason Schwartzman). But all can agree on one thing: the costumes are fantastic.

See the film on the big screen to ogle the fashion icon of her time in hair taller than a small child and petticoats wider than a car. Before hand, beloved local designer Holly Stalder - godmother of Portland’s independent fashion scene as the cofounder of legendary Seaplane boutique - will create a special one night only live Marie Antoinette fashion installation on stage before we roll the movie. See the connection of design inspiration translated directly to fashion, all while eating popcorn.
