Four-week Movie Madness University class held Mondays in June at 7:00pm.
In this course we’ll discuss the legend, the myth, the bowl cut… of the one and only Agnès Varda. A multidisciplinary pioneer of the French New Wave, Documentary Realism, and Experimentalism, and described by Martin Scorsese as "one of the Gods of Cinema," Varda is an icon for a reason.
This class will provide an introduction to Varda’s career through the lens of four representative works. For a list of specific titles that will be featured in the course, please email education@moviemadness.org with “class titles” in the subject line.
Movies will be screened at the Movie Madness Miniplex, followed by an instructor-led discussion. Classes will begin on June 6 and be held Mondays through June at 7:00pm. Proof of vaccination is required for all students and instructors.
Tuition is $75 for the four-week class, $60 for Hollywood Theatre/Movie Madness members. Class size will be limited to 18.
This class will be taught by MMU Lead Instructor Kia Anne Geraths, a filmmaker and educator. Her previous classes for MMU include Cult Horror of the ‘70s, ‘80s, & ‘90s; Women in Documentary Filmmaking; and more.
