Mother of Color

In a tumultuous world, Noelia, played by newcomer Ana del Rocío, is a whip-smart community organizer and single mother of two who constantly has to make hard choices between her kids and her career. When she’s offered the chance to interview for a position that could change everything, she begins receiving mysterious messages from her ancestors. Noelia senses that something bigger is at play as she works through a series of obstacles to get to the interview and follow her dreams.
MOTHER OF COLOR is the feature film debut of queer, Mexican American filmmaker Dawn Jones Redstone. The film is an eerie social drama that tracks the realities of single motherhood while also exploring one woman’s reckoning with ancestral trauma. Starring Patricia Alvitez, Kasey Tinoco and Julian Hernandez with special appearances by Luz Elena Mendoza of Y La Bamba and Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty. Produced by Tara Johnson-Medinger and Ashley Song.
This is a very special Portland premiere of the film with cast, crew and supporters in attendance!
