Promised Land

Series: Portland EcoFilm Festival

Benefit film screening: 100% of ticket sales donated to the Chinook Indian Nation’s legal fund.

PROMISED LAND centers on two indigenous tribes of the Pacific Northwest: the Duwamish Tribe and the Chinook Indian Nation, as they fight for the restoration of treaty rights still legally denied to them by the US government. The film explores the inseparability of identity and place and the ways society and government view tribal sovereignty, and takes a deep look at whose land we inhabit.

Post-film discussion and Q &A with Chinook Indian Nation tribal members.

Presented by the Hollywood Theatre's Portland EcoFilm Festival, Tall Firs Cinema, the Oregon Chapter of the Sierra ClubColumbia RiverkeeperGreenpeaceOregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, and Climate Solutions.
