Mississippi Records presents a special one-night screening of PURPLE RAIN! The tale of "The Kid'" (Prince) rising from abused and misunderstood weirdo living in his parent's basement to the real king of pop. Easily the greatest musical of the 1980s and an exciting watch on the big screen for Prince fans and non believers alike.
The best sum up of a time and place that never will come again (or, did it even exist in the first place?), Minneapolis in 1984. At the time the movie was made Prince was at the top of his game - the best dancer, singer, guitarist, provocateur, and composer in pop music by a mile. The film showcases his almost superhuman talent with dazzling live sets. The compelling non-actors deliver performances that border on the surreal, delivering wooden and strange dialogue that seems like it was written by an alien visiting earth for the first time and trying to replicate human speech. The cinematography is surprisingly some of the most beautiful of the decade. It's a movie that has it all - beautiful people, great music, evil villains who do cocky bird dances, outre 80's fashion, and Prince Prince Prince.
It's a fun movie to see on the big screen. If you like music and being alive - this is one for you!
