Join the Cascade Festival of African Films for their Opening Night screenings of AKOUNAK TEDALAT TAHA TAZOUGHAI/RAIN THE COLOR BLUE WITH A LITTLE RED IN IT, with director Christopher Kirkley and musician/actor Mdou Moctar in attendance!

Portland director Christopher Kirkley and Nigerian musician Mdou Moctar collaborated to create this delightful Nigerian homage to Prince’s PURPLE RAIN. The film also has the honor of being the first narrative feature film in the Tuareg language. Set in the rock-guitar scene in Agadez, Niger, it tells the universal story of one musician’s struggle to make it against all odds. Guitarist Mdou Moctar stars in his first film and will share his stories and music in a concert following the two screenings. In Tamashek with English subtitles.

The 9:15pm screening will be followed by a concert at 11:15pm featuring Mdou Moctar in performance with Portland musicians.
