Rap City 2

Series: Re-Run Theater

RE RUN THEATER and THE PORTLAND BLACK FILM FESTIVAL PRESENT:  RAP CITY 2

THE REVOLUTION WILL BE MUSIC TELEVISED. Following up where RAP CITY left off, this is the Golden Age of Hip Hop told in a compilation of mostly music videos with some interviews, ads, and parodies. As MTV finally realized just how much of an audience there was for Rap artists, more and more time was spent showcasing the culture and its emerging artists. Hip Hop became even more politicized with revolutionary acts such as Public Enemy and N.W.A., even as it became even more innovative and experimental. Female Hip Hop artists grabbed large swaths of their own turf. Production values began to mirror those of major motion pictures and became, in many ways, mini movies.

Featuring:  Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Salt ’N’ Pepa, Ice T, Busta Rhymes, MC Lyte, The Pharcyde, Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang Clan, Notorious B.I.G. and many, many more.
