Re-Run Theater: The Incredible Hulk

Re-Run Theater is proud to present the first ever live action appearance of The Incredible Hulk…the 1977 TV pilot starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.

This is, of course, the story of Dr. David Bruce Banner, a physician / scientist who is searching for the source of the hidden strength all humans have when faced with dire circumstances (the power that causes a 100 pound woman to lift a car off her trapped son, or allow a man to kick down a steel door to free people from a burning building).  He is haunted by the death of his wife whom he was unable to save and obsessed with finding the answer.  When he discovers that gamma radiation is the key, he gives himself an accidental overdose which permanently alters his body chemistry.  Now, whenever Banner becomes angry or outraged a startling metamorphosis occurs…

The Incredible Hulk TV show became an instant success on CBS television and was very different from comic adaptations of the past for several reasons:  It decided to take a much more realistic approach with heavy doses of drama and almost credible sounding science.  Also, unlike other shows of the time such as Wonder Woman and creator Kenneth Johnson’s own Bionic Woman and Six Million Dollar Man , the HULK only dealt with real world matters throughout the series:  Drug dealers, corrupt sports promoters and even child abuse were the subjects of each episode as opposed to aliens, mad scientists or Bigfoot.

As with all our Re-Run Theaters, vintage commercial interruptions will appear at appropriate times all from around the late seventies era so it’s as if you’re being transported back in time to the original air date.
