Repressed Cinema presents a 35mm print of GURU THE MAD MONK, plus a
surprise Andy Milligan short, with Milligan’s biographer in attendance!
GURU
THE MAD MONK (1970) Death his religion, blood his lust! The king of
creativity on a shoestring budget director Andy Milligan strikes again
in this ultra low budget horror gem. Milligan not only wrote, directed,
edited, and photographed but also made the costumes in this period piece
set in the middle ages. Do not miss the parked Moped in the background
of a shot! Neil Flanagan gives a memorable performance as the evil
Father Guru; see him sustain a conversation with himself due to his
“split personality”. Milligan made films to appeal to grindhouse
audiences of the day with plenty of gore scenes, but he also made films
with his gut which is one of the reasons he has such a devout cult
following today.
PLUS: Jimmy McDonough, Andy Milligan’s
biographer, will be introducing the movie and will be bringing along a
SURPRISE very rare Andy Milligan directed short from his private stash
that will be played before the feature. Do not miss your chance to see
this bizarre “mystery” pre-show short…
