SAFETY LAST (1923) When a store clerk (Harold Lloyd) organizes a publicity stunt requiring someone to climb the outside of a tall building, circumstances force him to make the perilous climb himself.

This silent romantic-comedy includes one of the most famous stunts from the silent film era: Harold Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock as he dangles from the outside of a skyscraper above moving traffic. Lloyd performed some of the climbing stunts himself, despite having lost a thumb and forefinger four years earlier in a film accident. SAFETY LAST was highly successful and critically hailed. and it cemented Lloyd's status as a major figure in early motion pictures. It is now considered to be one of the all-time great film comedies.
