For our April Cinema Classics offering, we’re proud to present a Hitchcock classic, starring Joseph Cotten and Teresa Wright and celebrating its 75th anniversary this year! The Sunday screening is free for Hollywood Theatre members.
SHADOW OF A DOUBT (1943):
Charlotte “Charlie” Newton (Teresa Wright), bored with her quiet life at home with her parents and younger sister, wishes something exciting would happen. When her beloved Uncle Charlie (Joseph Cotten), her mother’s younger brother, telegrams to announce an impending visit, it seems just the ticket. Uncle Charlie is suave and cosmopolitan, charming the local ladies’ club and the bank president where her father works. But soon young Charlie notices odd behavior on the part of her uncle, including cutting out a story in the local paper about a man who marries and murders rich widows. When two strangers appear asking questions about him, she begins to imagine the worst about her dear Uncle Charlie.
