A 35mm double feature in honor of Stephen King's 72nd birthday!
CHRISTINE (1983): Awkward teenager Arnie Cunningham fixes up a 1958 Plymouth Fury with an ominous past nicknamed “Christine.” Possessed by an evil force, Christine repays Arnie's love by taking murderous revenge on anyone who's done him (and her) wrong to the tunes of 1950's rock 'n' roll. Arguably Stephen King's most romantic film. Directed by John Carpenter and featuring a roster of legendary character actors in supporting roles.
MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (1986): Stephen King directs his own adaptation of his short story “Trucks.” Earth passes through the tail of a comet and machines inexplicably come to life with the insatiable drive to slaughter and torture humans. Everything from soda machines to draw bridges (but mostly automobiles) go on the rampage. A group of survivors takes refuge at a truckstop in North Carolina and mayhem ensues. Starring Emilio Estevez and featuring a musical score by AC/DC.
