For our June Cinema Classics screenings, we present the kingpin of caper films, THE ASPHALT JUNGLE, in beautiful 35mm! The screening on 6/1 is free for Hollywood Theatre members.
THE ASPHALT JUNGLE (1950): Regarded as one of the greatest crime dramas ever filmed, this tense thriller tells the tale of a crew of professional crooks planning the perfect caper. Unique in that it was one of the first films to tell a crime story from the point of view of the criminals, THE ASPHALT JUNGLE laid the foundation for every heist drama that came after. Directed by John Huston, and starring a stellar ensemble cast that includes Sterling Hayden, Jean Hagen, and Marilyn Monroe (in her first significant screen role), THE ASPHALT JUNGLE is an unsentimental study in character and relative morality.
