Short Films Block 1
Get ready with the popcorn, this is the first festival to be back on the big screen in Portland and we’ve got a killer lineup of short horror films from all over the world! Some of the year’s best shorts are on display in tonight’s block of cinematic terror! Q&A with attending filmmakers follows.

Feature: The Turn of the Screw
Set in an empty theatre over the course of one evening, Julia finds herself as a last minute replacement for another actress at the dress rehearsal of a stage play version of The Turn of the Screw, set in 1890. Arriving at the theatre late that night, Julia is immediately thrown on stage and into her role, playing to an empty auditorium. As she interacts with the other characters and the story becomes increasingly terrifying, Julia begins to believe that not only is the fictitious house haunted… but also the theatre itself!

Director Alex Galvin masterfully blends together stage and screen in this terrifying adaptation of the classic Henry James Gothic ghost story.

Films are different each night and in addition to our 5 theatrical screenings, there are 4 streaming exclusive shows that include short and feature length horror films from around the world that you can only stream from home. Be sure to get a full festival pass if you want to see everything!
