We Grew Wings

We Grew Wings takes flight as an important documentary about women’s sports that is sure to inspire the next generation of young athletes. Forty years ago, Title IX empowered girls to compete in collegiate athletics. We Grew Wings focuses on the untold story of an Oregon homegrown team’s rise to a national championship.

Executive producer, Ellen Schmidt-Devlin, teamed with co-directors Erich Lyttle ( Fire on the Track: The Steve Prefontaine Story ), Sarah Henderson ( There Is No Finish Line: The Joan Benoit-Samuelson Story ) and narrator Katharine Ross ( The Graduate ) to tell this fascinating and often overlooked story of the University of Oregon women’s track and field team.

A brilliant soundtrack featuring local and national talent sparks the movie's dramatic images, personal interviews and lost footage of a historic championship year that changed lives. We Grew Wings is a story of camaraderie, teamwork, personal struggles and triumphs of two eras in women sports.
