Yeti Bootleg #6: Tergit

Lying between the desert and the sea in West Africa, Mauritania is one of the world’s least populated places, a hypnotic juxtaposition of parched desert and urbanized nomads. Yeti Bootleg/Sahelsounds presents the lost late 70's film Tergit, an early experiment in post-colonial cinematography by filmmaker/poet Hemmam Fall, a semi-ethnographic document of early musical phenomena, and an accompanying exploration of contemporary Mauritanian music culture through the lens of youtube by frequent visitor Christopher Kirkley. YETI BOOTLEGS - An ongoing series programmed by Mike McGonigal consisting of rare and hard to find music films and video expertly edited together from a variety of archival sources.
