An Afternoon with Takashi Makino

Movie Madness University is pleased to welcome Takashi Makino, a Tokyo-based experimental filmmaker widely considered to be one of the most influential Japanese moving-image artists of his generation.

 

In this class, we’ll watch a selection of Makino’s short films and he’ll discuss his creative approach to filmmaking - why he chose the abstract approach to express himself, how he uses music, and how he collaborates with musicians.  

 

This class will be taught by Takashi Makino, an artist, filmmaker and lecturer.  He’s worked across multiple formats including 16mm, 35mm and video. His work has been screened globally and he’s been the recipient of numerous awards and honors.

 

Class size will be limited to 18.
