Starting with the Sci/Fi "spunk schlock" of CANDY VON DEWD (2002; 58min). This romp about astronauts who crash on an amazon planet goes over the latex cuckoo's nest with a new wave synth-score & "provocative situations," as infertile men confront womb-free babes! CVD is stoner-juvenile, punk-psychedelic, nerd-clever, & even cryptoFeminist. Variety called it, a visually delightful ode to ’60s pop sci-fi epics that’s like “Barbarella” on a “Creation of the Humanoids” budget.
Then comes the "grunge giallo" experimental slasher BLACK STRAWBERRY (2019; 47min). Filmed over 11 years, BS is a genuinely strange ode to a Portland haunted by murdered orgasms, Satanic slayers & spooked citizens.
