Though their contributions have often been overlooked, women directors have been part of the horror genre for as long as it has existed.
In this course, we’ll shine a spooky flashlight on four films from four women directors, showcasing four very different approaches to horror filmmaking. We’ll explore not only how the films were made, but how each artist traverses the genre in their own unique way.
Films:
12/5: PREVENGE (2016, 88 min)
12/12: RAVENOUS (1999, 101 min)
12/19: BLOOD DINER (1987, 88 min)
12/26: TBD
This class will be taught by MMU Lead Instructor Kia Anne Geraths, a filmmaker and educator. Her previous classes include the Cult Horror series, Intro to Varda, Science Fiction B-movies, and more.
Each class will begin with a short lecture, followed by a screening of the film, after which an instructor-led discussion will take place.
Class size will be limited to 18.
