Director, writer, film critic, and film professor Kiyoshi Kurosawa is known to many as one of the modern masters of J-Horror but his work remains underseen in the west compared to many of his peers.
In this class we will be exploring Kurosawa’s work by taking a look at his breakthrough psychological thriller, CURE. We will explore Kurosawa’s roots and influences in cinema, the production and cast of the film, along with its release, reception, and its legacy in the world of horror cinema.
Described by Martin Scorsese as “Kurosawa’s most terrifying movie” and on Bong Joon Ho’s list of the greatest films ever made, join us as we ask the question, “Who are you?”
Guest MMU Instructor Corey Coleman will teach this class.
The film will be screened at the Movie Madness Miniplex, followed by an instructor-led discussion.
Class size will be limited to 18.
