LA HAINE (1995, 98 min) follows a group of friends in a predicament following a night of riots and civil unrest. One of their friends is in critical condition at the hospital after being assaulted by the police. In addition, one of them grabbed a revolver off an officer and vows revenge if their friend dies. Let’s follow this wayward group as they grapple with racial injustice in Paris while KRS One's "Sound of da Police" narrates their journey.
In this class, we’ll explore the explosive filmmaking and performances that beat in the heart of this scathing social thriller.
This class will be taught by MMU Instructor Satchel Stinson, who recently taught a class on the film I DO NOT CARE IF WE GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS BARBARIANS.
The class will begin with a short lecture, followed by a screening of the film, after which an instructor-led discussion will take place.
Class size will be limited to 18.
