MMU @ PCC: Gattaca

From STAR TREK to INTERSTELLAR, science fiction has long been a vehicle for exploring the most serious matters facing humanity. From social and ethical issues to the meaning of life itself, genre can be used to speculate and discuss what it means to be human. Ranked by NASA scientists number one for the most accurate/plausible sci-fi film ever made, GATTACA (1997, 106 min) is a beautiful and disturbing meditation on the terrifying concept of perfection.

In this class we'll learn about the making of them as well as the themes and ideas that drive the DNA of GATTACA.

This class will be taught by Movie Madness University Lead Instructor Kia Anne Geraths, a filmmaker and educator. Her previous classes include the Cult Horror series, Intro to Varda, Science Fiction B-movies, and more.

This class will take place at the PCC Cascade Campus (705 N. Killingsworth St.) in the Moriarty Arts Humanities Building.  Class will begin with a short lecture, followed by a screening of the film, after which an instructor-led discussion will take place.
