THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU in 35mm!

The Portland EcoFilm Festival is kicking off our 2025 festival with a very special 20th anniversary 35mm presentation of Wes Anderson’s Jacques Cousteau inspired seafaring adventure, THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU!

While making a documentary, struggling oceanographer Steve Zissou loses his closest friend to the mythical jaguar shark. Jane (a journalist) and Ned (a pilot that claims to be Steve’s unknown son) join Zissou’s ragtag crew on their journey to make a new film about Steve’s vengeful pursuit of the rare shark.

The ensemble cast features a “who’s who” of the 21st century’s most beloved American actors, including Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Willem Defoe, Anjelica Huston, and Jeff Goldblum. Brazilian musician Seu Jorge contributes iconic Portuguese Bowie covers to complement Mark Mothersbaugh’s (DEVO) jaunty score.
