From acclaimed filmmaker Jane Campion—recipient of the Palme d'Or for THE PIANO and Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay (THE PIANO) and Best Director (POWER OF THE DOG)—comes her most misunderstood film, IN THE CUT (2003). Adapted from Susanna Moore's novel and produced by Nicole Kidman, IN THE CUT follows Frannie (Meg Ryan, in a severe departure from her run of '90s rom coms), a NYC English teacher who becomes embroiled in a murder investigation led by Detective Malloy (Mark Ruffalo). Maligned upon initial release, it is now recognized as a feminist erotic thriller that aligns thematically with Campion's body of work yet stands out for its unique aesthetic vision.
