Hal Ashby (director of HAROLD & MAUDE, THE LAST DETAIL, COMING HOME, etc.) makes a pitch-perfect movie adaptation of Jerzy Kozinski's novel. Peter Sellers plays Chance the Gardener, a naive white man in a suit who manages to scale to the highest echelons of power in the USA despite the fact that he only knows the world through the lens of what he has seen on television. (Sound familiar?)  Just by being a conservative-looking white man in a white man's world, Chance (renamed Chauncey Gardener) rises and rises - in a matter of days - by repeating vague nonsensical rhetoric. Co-starring Shirley MacClaine, this is as timely a comedy as we could get.

A portion of the proceeds from this screening go to The Social Justice Fund, a foundation working at the front lines of social change. The Social Justice Fund leverages the resources of its members to foster significant, long-term social justice solutions throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.Â
