Mississippi Records is proud to bring the Sun Ra Arkestra back for 3 shows at the Hollywood Theater! Under the direction of Marshal Allen (at the age of 95), the Arkestra will bring cosmic tones for mental therapy, impressive jazz, space chants, and some of the most beautiful universal music imaginable. With 15 members, the Arkestra is a heavy big band. Their two New Years shows this year in Portland blew minds left and right. The band enjoyed themselves in our town so much, we decided to have them back sooner than later.
Each night will offer a different set (with some possible overlap of songs - but the Arkestra never plays it the same twice) There will also be some projections on the Big screen.
It could be argued that the Sun Ra Arkestra is the greatest band of all time. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to see them in full force.
