Re-Run Theater

BEFORE MTV: Early Music Videos

BEFORE MTV: Early Music Videos
MTV did not invent the music video.  The format was flourishing in the 1960s and 70s as film reels and special spots on variety shows.  Programs such as Night Flight and Friday Night Video gave viewers hours of brand new videos long before the 24 hour music channel.

We’re going to highlight the decade and a half preceding MTV’s launch when the concept video truly found its stride as well as some superb live performances. We'll be playing The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Heart, Shocking Blue, Cheap Trick, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Blondie, Abba, Cat Stevens and many more!

Plus some rare 60s and 70s TV commercials to take you all the way back to this amazing time.

In general, the Hollywood Theatre does not provide content advisories about the subject matter shown in our theatre. Films exhibited don’t necessarily reflect the views of the Hollywood Theatre. Information about content and age-appropriateness for specific films can be found on Common Sense Media and DoesTheDogDie.com.
