ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER

ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER
TGIQ celebrates Pedro Almodóvar's Academy Award-winning masterpiece, ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER (1999)! This screening is free for members. Manuela (Cecilia Roth) is the perfect mother; a hard-working nurse, she’s built a comfortable life for herself and her teenage son, an aspiring writer. But when tragedy strikes, her world crumbles. Returning to Barcelona and reuniting with her best friend, trans sex worker Agrado (Antonia San Juan, in a film-stealing performance), Manuela overcomes her grief while rehearsing a production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" and becoming caregiver to a new chosen family. Equal parts melodrama, homage to Tennessee Williams and ALL ABOUT EVE, and a groundbreaking ode to trans community, ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER is a colorful and bittersweet love letter to little-seen lives from the masterful Almodóvar.
Director: Pedro Almodóvar
