Fast Break – Bill Walton Tribute
CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT OF BILL WALTON WITH A TRIBUTE SCREENING OF THE 1978 DOCUMENTARY "FAST BREAK"

Award-winning director STEVE JAMES and writer LARRY COLTON in attendance for Q&A!

"....a stunning documentary film..." - Jason Quick - The Athletic

In celebration of the life and legacy of Portland Trail Blazer and NBA World Champion BILL WALTON, we are hosting a special screening of the 1978 basketball documentary FAST BREAK.  This one-of-a-kind documentary features some great Walton moments, including a bike ride on the Oregon Coast, a basketball camp in Warm Springs and incredible footage of the 1977 NBA Championship.

Following the screening, we'll be joined by documentary director STEVE JAMES (Hoop Dreams / The Luckiest Guy In the World) and writer / FAST BREAK star LARRY COLTON for a Q&A, as we remember and share stories about the man known affectionately as Big Red.

Evoking a cinema verite feel not found in most sports documentaries, FAST BREAK examines the 1977 Trail Blazers in a surprisingly personal and compelling fashion. Inter-cutting excerpts from the 1977 playoff / championship season, the film steps outside of the basketball court, and into the everyday lives of the Trail Blazers, as well as their coach Jack Ramsey. Whether it's biking the Oregon coast with Bill Walton, hosting a kids basketball camp with Dave Twardzik, or joking with Maurice Lucas at the pool - FAST BREAK lets the players speak for themselves: about basketball, life and playing in Portland.
