Venus Xtravaganza emerged as a global trans icon after being featured as a glamorous “ball walker” in the groundbreaking 1991 documentary PARIS IS BURNING, but she was tragically murdered before the film’s release. Decades later, I'M YOUR VENUS picks up the trail of her unsolved murder, following both her biological family, the Pellagattis, and her ballroom family, the Xtravaganzas, as they seek justice and healing. The Pellagattis grapple with their past treatment of Venus while getting to know who their sister truly was, and both families come together to honor her legacy and find common ground. Through never-before-seen archival material, intimate vérité moments, and raw scenes with Venus herself from PARIS IS BURNING and its outtakes, I'M YOUR VENUS presents a deeply felt portrait of family, acceptance, and the enduring power of legacy. It reminds us that while life may be finite, there is always room to celebrate, grow, and correct the record.
