Mecha Panic

ROUJIN Z

ROUJIN Z
From legendary anime creators Katsuhiro Otomo (AKIRA) and Hiroyuki Kitakubo (GOLDEN BOY), a Comedy-Mecha-Satire about love, death and the healthcare system!

Medical students under the direction of the Ministry of Public Welfare develop a new technology to advance elderly nursing care, the Z-001: a computerized hospital bed with robotic features. Fixed with a nuclear reactor and operated by an AI program, the Z-001 tends to its patient's every need from exercise to bathing. The first volunteer, an 87-year-old widower named Kijiru Takazawa, finds himself trapped inside the bed after its AI takes on the voice of his deceased wife. When Takazawa requests to go to the beach, his bed transforms into a mech and escapes the hospital. Leaving a trail of destruction behind him, Takazawa is chased by the Ministry of Public Welfare, the military and his young nurse, Haruko. Each with their own motivation to capture him.
