Whisper of the Heart

Grant Movie Club presents Studio Ghibli's WHISPER OF THE HEART (1995)! Directed by Yoshifumi Kondo and written by Hayao Miyazaki (based on the 1989 manga of the same name by Aoi Hiiragi), WHISPER OF THE HEART follows Shizuku, an inquisitive girl and avid reader, who notices an unattended cat riding the train. Following the feline leads to a chance encounter with Seiji, a boy from her class who hopes to become a violin maker. The Baron, a cat figurine from the antique store that Seiji's grandfather owns, helps Shizuku realize her dream of becoming a writer by inspiring her first story, "Whispers of the Heart."
