Gun Crazy-posterFriday, Sept. 18 through Sunday, Sept. 20, in partnership with the Film Noir Foundation, the Hollywood Theatre is proud to present the third annual NOIR CITY Portland!

This year’s line-up boasts the Film Noir Foundation’s restorations of WOMAN ON THE RUN and THE GUILTY, as well as film noir classics including GUN CRAZY, NIGHTMARE ALLEY, and more!

Hosted by the Czar of Noir himself, Eddie Muller, NOIR CITY Portland will present these films on beautiful 35mm prints!

Friday, Sept. 18
7:00pm – WOMAN ON THE RUN (1950) – New FNF 35mm Restoration!
After witnessing a murder, Frank Johnson is pursued around San Francisco by his wife, a reporter, the police, and the real murderer. Starring Ann Sheridan and Dennis O’Keefe. Buy tickets!

Sunday, Sept. 20
5:00pm – ABANDONED (1949)
When a woman’s sister goes missing in Los Angeles, a crime reporter joins her for the investigation, which leads them to a shady detective and a black market baby ring. Starring Dennis O’Keefe and Gale Storm. Buy tickets!

7:00pm – NIGHTMARE ALLEY (1947)
The ambitious Stan Carlisle works as a carny and assistant to a once well-reputed mentalist, determined to learn her tricks so he can con rich socialites. Starring Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell; directed by Edmund Goulding (GRAND HOTEL). Buy tickets!

Eddie Muller is a contemporary renaissance man.  He is the founder and president of the Film Noir Foundation. He writes novels, biographies, movie histories, plays, short stories, and films. He also programs film festivals, curates museums, designs books, and provides commentary for television, radio, and DVDs.  He has twice been named a San Francisco Literary Laureate, and his expertise in dark subject matter—both in fiction and film—has earned him the title “Czar of Noir.” Eddie also serves as one of Turner Classic Movies’ regular presenters of classic cinema, most recently hosting TCM’s “Summer of Darkness,” on Fridays prime time during June and July.

The Film Noir Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation created as an educational resource regarding the cultural, historical, and artistic significance of film noir as an original American cinematic movement.
